Original paint and decals. the decals are excellent. very minor nicks here and there, but overall this bike is 9+ out of 10 I would recommend an tuneup as it is a 30+ year old bike. Appears to be all original except the tires have been replaced with new tires. bike looks like it was never really ridden at all. this bike is not the top end Falcon. it does have steel rims. but what it lacks in high end components it makes up for with being a time capsule bike, a bike that is very clean, and has not been abused, or in that case, ridden. After a nice day spent at a Wolf Sanctuary, I stopped in at a random antique mart that litters the Lancaster County area. I usually avoid these types of places as they are usually full of overpriced knickknacks and 'antiques.' Browsing through, I ran across a friend, who was a vendor there, and he showed me some bicycle ephemera that he was selling. This card was found there. Nice early scorcher racing bike. The handlebars have a nice deep, unique bend, with a bell attached near the stem. Appears to be a Fauber crank and has early toeclips, much like what a fellow collector was asking us about. It also has a plated rear cog, that really stands out. I assume someone familiar with this era bicycles, could make out the headbadge.
One of our favorite customer's bikes that we had the privilege of revamping into a fast little rain bike. You can see the before and after.
here is his writeup for it, from his Flickr page that has tons more pictures. " Early 60's British Path Racer. Unsure of the builder, but the seller believed it could have been a Flying Scot. I had the bike repainted by Bilenky Cycle Works as it appeared to have already been possibly repainted. There is a serial # behind the fork crown that reads 446 and then K on the other side of the fork crown. Photos are visible later in the set. I had originally purchased this bike as a rain bike to ride when I was still a courier. You can see photos of the bike in another set in its original carnation. When I retired I decided to have the bike repainted, sprayed with frame saver and outfitted with a hodge podge of great parts. Better than the MTB stuff I had on it before! "
Customer's bike. They bought in the midwest recently, within the past few years, and from what I gather, it was a rescue, it was to be trashed or was found in the trash. The bike was thoroughly cleaned and the stem wouldn't polish up, so the owner wrapped and sewed on a piece of leather to cover the stem. Pretty good find.
I did advise the owner he should get in contact with Alex Singer Cycles to see about getting a replacement stem, because if it is as corroded as he suggested, it has to be a safety issue. I also mentioned he might want to do it sooner than later, as the main builder at Alex Singer for the past few decades recently passed away, Ernest Csuka.
Revision- So the bike was found at a scrapyard, and the employee working there thought the bike was kind of nice and brought it to his local bike shop, where it sat there, rusty and dirty until it's current owner saw it in the corner and bought it. So this beautiful bike could have been lost for the ages, scrapped, recycled into a Walmart Huffy.

"This exquisite bike is the nicest original Jack Taylor I have seen, especially considering its age. Serial number is 4646. Alex completely disassembled it and cleaned and shined everything, rebuilt the wheels, and reassembled it with great care. Amazing how the decals and striping have held up for 47 years. New tires and cables and spokes, but that's about it for new stuff. Great Job Alex! It will be the star of the Classic Bike Show at the Seattle Bike Expo in March. 7
