Le Chemineau road bike

Le Chemineau, as seen at a recent bicycle swap meet. Incorrect wheels.

 Early attempt at index shifting.

 The headbadge is a reproduction on the kilometer marker at the town of St. Etienne.

 Seat tube oiler is located behind the seattube. The Simplex front derailleur is not properly set up, as one can see. There is a cork inserted into the seattube from the bottom bracket shell, and the rider would pour oil into the seattube, from the seatpost, and when he swiveled the oiler down, it will oil his chain. It seemed needed on the early derailleur systems on the dusty, unpaved roads of Europe post-war. I have seen this feature on French and Italian bicycles.

 Maxiplume aluminum cottered crankset, with what appears to be Cyclo Rosa chainrings.

 Chemineau proprietary rear derailleur. It is similar to the Cyclo. Oscar Egg dropouts.

 Henri Gauthier leather saddle. This is the steel rail model, but they also produced an aluminum rail version much like the Ideale.

Lam Super Dural aluminum brakes.

Dawes Courier bicycle

 We recently got this late 1940s-early 1950s Dawes Courier in and I have been riding it as my commuter bicycle. It was previously owned by a shop friend that customized it with heavy duty 700c wheels(rather than the original 26" wheels) and modern brakes and rack. It was a bicycle courier so the bike was appropriate for him. It originally had amazing paint detailing, ghost of the designs are still visible, but lost to the ages. I'm not sure yet what I am going to do with it, but it is a nice riding bike, I think it deserves to be restored to it's original self.

Sturmey Archer TF (two speed fixed) rear hub. Dated 1934.

With correct and original Model TF trigger, toggle chain and Sturmey wingnuts.

Raleigh chainset with Heron chainring.

Raleigh pedals with Heron cages.

Original extendable wire toe clips and leather straps.

Bluemel's Noweight rear mudguard with pat number and Bluemel's patent white rear extension.
