73CM Witcomb USA we recently built / sold!
This is the largest size frame we have ever built here at Via Bicycle! It has a 73CM CTC seat tube! A very tall customer came in looking for a bike, and we had one that fit the bill. It was made by the Witcomb USA shop in Connecticut. I estimate production to be in the mid to late 1970's as the company was finished by the 80's. Many current master builders worked there including Chris Chance, Richard Sachs, and J.P. Weigle. Here is a link about the marque via Classic Rendezvous Witcomb USA. I wonder if any of them recall this frame being built / maybe one of them built it?
Usually on larger frames, mixte stays are added from the head tube to the rear drop outs to add reinforcement. Not the case with this bike, very unusual. We put it together as an upright bike to be ridden around the city. We used heavy duty wheels so that the customer will not have problems. We hope this bike suits our customers needs and he is pleased with the results! After it was built by our head mechanic Davis, he took it for the required test ride, quite an adventure! Enjoy!

For Sale: 54CM Casati Monza frame and fork. TSX Columbus tubing!
Casati Monza road frame and fork.
Excellent used condition.
54CM seat tube CTC
55CM top tube CTC.
Made with Columbus TSX tubing, which dates it to the early 1990's as this tubing set was only available for a short amount of time. TSX is a step above SLX, which then turned into PRX.
Italian threaded BB shell.
Italian threaded steerer.
130mm rear spacing.
Requires 27.0 seat post.
Chrome and paint is in great condition.
Some scratches in paint on the underside of the top tube, looks like it was on a car rack, no dents.
Original decals in great shape.
Takes a braze-on front derailleur.
Matching serial number of 874 54 is stamped on both the fork steerer and BB shell.
Nice world championship stripes and logo cast into BB shell.
Frame is straight and fork is in alignment.
Internal rear brake cable routing.
Excellent classic Italian race bike, very sexy!

Recent Personal Acquisition: 1980's RIGI
This is a frame and fork I personally got recently. It is an early 1980's RIGI. It is a bit of a unique bike and I am looking forward to building it up. The most clear unique feature is the split seat tube design that enables the rear wheel to be brought closer under the rider. This design shortens the wheel base. The chain is shortened by a full 6CM! Also the head tube angle is very steep, 77 degrees! These bikes were built for speed, not comfort. Also, very twitchy at high speed. I have seen a couple examples before, usually lugged. This one is the stainless steel version, adding to its uniqueness. Even the fork blades are stainless steel! Here is a link to the Classic Rendezvous page about the marque: RIGI Also of note is the special adaptor piece for the front derailleur. Gian Robert made a front derailleur specifically for these bikes. This one was made by the previous owner and works just fine. It is a bit of a long term project and I hope to build it up with a Campagnolo Super Record group. I also want to use all the after market alloy and titanium parts O.M.A.S. and Cobra made in the 80's for the Campagnolo NR /SR components. Those bits will probablly take the longest to get I am sure, time will tell. I like oddball / unique bikes, and this one fits the bill for sure. Enjoy the photos!
