Our former colleague Aaron Popelka is a multi-talented individual. He currently works at Bicycle Revolutions here in Philadelphia, and is head mechanic there. In his off-time, he makes awesome guitar pedals and his newest project is pretty cool as well. He makes super deluxe clipboards out of discarded cycling components. Check out the link and see what he is up to. When you move the shifter, it raises and lowers the derailleur to secure or release your papers or what ever is on the board. It also has a friction or indexing mode! Pretty cool!
