Graham's Zeus city bike

     This is another one of Graham's bikes. It is a Zeus frame built up with a mix of components and used as an upright around town city bike. Zeus was a company out of Spain that not only made frames, but also made complete component groups! Most of their stuff closely resembles Campagnolo componentry in design, especially in the 1970's. Zeus were were  competitors with Campagnolo, and the quality of their top of the line stuff was just as good, if not better than their Italian counterpart. No other company quite embraced the drillium trend like Zeus and their 2000 group was full of nicely polished and drilled components with titanium bits. their Ocana model bike was amazing! Awesome customer's bike

      This Bianchi city bike rolled in last week. Really nice city set up with great features. My favorite detail is the chromed portion of the down tube so that when you step through the frame to get on the bike, you don't scratch the paint there. Nice full chain case and the rear fender is perforated to accept a skirt guard. original Bianchi fenders, very sturdy. Sturmey Archer AW 3 speed hub dated 1971. Wheels appear to be original to the bike, so that kind of dates it. This bike has seen many miles and it shows. Great burgundy paint with all the original decals. I hope it stays in service for many more years.

 

 

Keeping it in the family. Rory's chrome Rochet

We like to keep bikes in the family here at Via. You may recognize this one, maybe. This bike used to belong to our esteemed colleague and good friend Joel. He moved to the west coast not too long ago and sold his chrome Rochet to our colleague Rory, who does a great job working at the front end of the shop doing sales and repair diagnosis. Joel took some bits and bobs off the bike leaving Rory with a relatively blank canvas to build upon.

It is currently set up as a three speed with Sturmey Archer alloy shell AW hub (recently overhauled of course), Campy record high flange front road hub converted to bolt on version for security reasons, and Sugino cranks with chain ring . Velocity Aerohead rims are nice and durable for city riding. The bike retains the Honjo Le Paon fenders, Velo Orange porteur front rack, Velo Orange porteur bars, and Tektro inverse levers. A new Brooks B-17 saddle rounds out the build. The overall impression is a really well put together city bike capable of most any day to day task executed with style.

Really cool italian city type bars with brazed on brake levers, much like Frejus or Bianchi did.

Ofmega steel headset.

Front light bracket is stamped OLYMPIA as well as cranks,hubs, saddle.

Chainguard is formed to accommodate the front derailleur.

Lots of neat details all over this bike!

This is a really nice city bike in fantastic original shape (except for tires)!
