This bike is really cool. It is a Schwinn Paramount tourist model, serial number A634. This is the first serial number system started by Emil Wastyn and the earliest models follow this system. The letter A followed by three digits. This bike dates from roughly the early 1940's. It was re-painted at some point in its life and has no decals. It does retain the original headbadge. It has the early ball end seat stay caps and the locking Schwinn Superior fork with key. The braze-ons are also attached above the drop outs for the original fenders. The hubs are the post war pork chop drum brake version.
Some other features are:
Schwinn Superior saddle
Schwinn Superior stem
Schwinn Paramount crank set and bottom bracket.
Wheels are 26 X 13/8" with Uniroyal Touring tires.
Schwinn Town & Country tandem type handle bars.
Newer Schwinn grips (1970's).
NON-Schwinn seat post.
Looks to be original Schwinn chain guard.
The frame measures as:
52 CM seat tube center to center.
57 CM top tube center to center.
Approx. 31" stand over height.
