1980's SOMEC pista

     This bike belongs to one of my colleagues, Graham. His collection is getting pretty impressive! The bike is a mid to late 1980's SOMEC pista frame and fork built up with a Campagnolo Nuovo Record / Super Record Pista group set. SOMEC is an Italian marque, started in 1973. They are mostly known for their fully pantographed component groups. Their frame construction is also top shelf. the pixelized decal font on this bike is one of my all time favorites. SOMEC stand for: SOcieta' MECcanica "society of mechanics". Enjoy the photos!

1974 Raleigh International

     This time of year, business is slow and we have time to put together personal projects (on our time of course!). This is another bike that belongs to my co-worker Graham. He bought it as a frame and fork last spring and finally completed the build. It is a 1974 Raleigh International that he put together with a Campagnolo Nuovo Record group and Mafac Racer brakes. He also put fenders on it and a T.A. front rack that supports the Mel Pinto (made by T.A.)  handlebar bag. Very nice machine for day trips or longer excursions. He just has to add a lighting system and he is all set!  Enjoy the photos.

Graham's Zeus city bike

     This is another one of Graham's bikes. It is a Zeus frame built up with a mix of components and used as an upright around town city bike. Zeus was a company out of Spain that not only made frames, but also made complete component groups! Most of their stuff closely resembles Campagnolo componentry in design, especially in the 1970's. Zeus were were  competitors with Campagnolo, and the quality of their top of the line stuff was just as good, if not better than their Italian counterpart. No other company quite embraced the drillium trend like Zeus and their 2000 group was full of nicely polished and drilled components with titanium bits. their Ocana model bike was amazing! Graham's Marinoni Pista

     This bike belongs to my colleague Graham. He runs the front end of the shop handling a multitude of responsibilities, from customer service, to selling bikes, and diagnosing repairs. He also does all our product ordering. Graham also has an ever expanding stable of fine bicycles. This is one of his newer acquisitions. Really clean Marinoni pista frame and fork that he built up with stuff from his parts bin. These are made in Canada, near Quebec.      I believe this was built in the 1980's, mostly because of the checkerboard fade paint job. A personal favorite of mine. The chrome is pristine. It is built with Columbus tubing and Campagnolo pista drop outs and fork tips. Also of note is the Mavic 310 headset, I think they are really slick looking. They are also smooth as butter, however, they require the specific wrench for adjustment and are a bit of a rarity these days! Really beefy round fork blades and nice semi sloping crown with the "M" cast into it. Not drilled for brakes, this bike is designed for one thing, speed on the track! Enjoy the photos!
